More than a mere brick sealant

What makes HydroBlock an effective brick sealant?

Because it's not one...

HydroBlock penetrates deep into the surface and so provides long term protection. After a simple application your walls are safe from penetrating damp and frost damage. No more ugly cracks caused by rain penetration and freezing.

On top of that, your property appears brighter, cleaner and healthier. Self-cleaning walls mean dirt and grime won't build up as easily, and rainwater is used to wash the surface rather than damage it. Less cleaning from you, and you still get brighter walls.

Damp wall treatment and better energy efficiency

Waterproofing gives you numerous benefits. A dry healthy wall keeps heat where it's meant to be, reducing your energy bills.

A wet wall can release twice as much heat as a dry one. By keeping your walls dry, HydroBlock lowers the thermal conductivity of your walls, meaning heat stays where you want it to, and you save money on your energy bills.

As a breathable treatment, HydroBlock allows harmless amounts of moisture to escape while preventing excess rain from getting in.

From the sealant experts, ISO Paint

HydroBlock is among the most advanced penetrating damp treatments produced by the experts, ISO Paint. There's a reason why these guys are market leaders in the competitive coating markets of Scandinavia and Northern Europe. They've been developing coatings and paints that have shaped the industry for decades, and have had huge success all over Europe. And their range is now available to you.

Got marble or granite surfaces? You can get HydroBlock as a solvent based version for use on hard minerals.

HydroBlock is based on the latest nano-technology. Here's the science: A chemical composition of siloxanes with free reactive groups enables HydroBlock to actively bond to mineral surfaces such as concrete, brick and stone and protects against rain, dirt, algae, pollution, oil and others. That's how it's so much more effective than the average brick sealant.

DO NOT ALLOW TO GET ON TO GLASS

HydroBlock Application

Apply directly on surfaces less than one year old. Older surfaces must be cleaned thoroughly with a low-pressure washer of minimum 70bar before treatment.

On dry surfaces of cement, concrete and tile we recommend a moisture content below 45% measured with a Pinless Moisture Meter, Elma DT-128M.

HydroBlock is colourless for clay or slate roof tiles, brick sealing and mineral surfaces such as stone.

Surfaces with strong discolouration, algae or moss growth (as well as heavily soiled surfaces) should be treated with A-Clean and finally rinsed with water before treatment. When the surface is visibly dry (after about 24 hours depending on weather, wind and temperature), HydroBlock can be applied.

Apply with brush, roller, garden sprayer or similar. Apply about 1 litre of HydroBlock on 3-5 m2. depending on surface age, property and absorbency. One treatment is sufficient for most surfaces. Additional treatments should be carried out within one hour of first treatment.

Recommendation: Always make a test coat to ensure the compatability of product and surface.

Thermal conductivity Hydroblock

Measurements of thermal conductivity in light concrete stones coated with Hydroblock.
The thermal conductivity in light concrete stones exposed to water absorption by partial immersion has been measured before and after surface coating with Hydroblock.
The water absorption by part immersion was done according to the principles in DS/EN ISO 15148 – samples immersed by min. 5 mm for 24 hours.

Samples

Two sets of light concrete stone samples were tested:
 Reference light concrete stones (set 1)
 Light concrete stones coated with Hydroblock (set 2)

Each set of light concrete stones consisted of 3 sample pieces.

Sample (200 x 100 x 100 mm) with marked area for measurement of thermal conductivity.

Test equipment

Measurement of thermal conductivity was carried out with an ISOMET 104 thermal conductivity analyser fitted with surface probe (measuring range: 0.1 to 1.0 W/m K).
The test was made in a series of 6 single measurements with 5-minute breaks between each measurement.
Estimated maximum indication error:
 5 % + 0.001 [W/m K] in measurement range: 0.050 – 2.0 [W/m K]
Test period: 24 November - 14 December 2011

Test results

Water absorption according to the principle described in DS/EN ISO 15148 with
partial immersion of building products in 5 mm water for 24 hours.
Testing steps:
 Drying of samples at 70 °C for more than 24 hours
 Weighing of samples
 Measurement of thermal conductivity
 Partial immersion in water for 24 hours
 Weighing of samples
 Measurement of thermal conductivity

No samples were fully saturated with water after 24 hours immersion.

Conclusion

The test shows that coating of light concrete stones with Hydroblock reduces the water absorption and thus also reduces the resulting thermal conductivity.

The thermal conductivity in Hydroblock-coated light concrete samples was lowered by approx. 58 % compared to light concrete samples without any coating when tested according to DS/EN ISO 15148.
